Parent Child Classes

Once you have completed your child’s application online, a class teacher will call you for a quick discussion about what to expect in the classes, and to decide with you when you would like to begin.

Nursery & Kindergarten

Once you have completed your child’s application online, a class teacher will call you to arrange a time to meet with you and your child in one of our Early Education classrooms. This allows the teacher to get to know you and your child, and access your child’s readiness to join either the Nursery or Kindergarten.

Grade 1

Once you have completed your child’s application online, the 1st Grade teacher will contact you to arrange a time to meet you and your child.

Grades 2-8

Once you have completed your child’s application online, and we receive all admissions materials including past school records, the admissions office will contact you to arrange a time for your child to visit the school for 2 consecutive days along with a parent interview with the class teacher.

Grades 9-12

Once you have completed your student’s application online, and we receive all admissions materials including past school records and the handwritten student application, the admissions office will contact you to arrange a time for your student to visit the school for 2 consecutive days. Separate interviews with both the student and parent, with a small panel of high school faculty, will also be scheduled during that 2-day time frame.

EARTH Program

Once we’ve completed your child’s application online and we have received all past school records, a class teacher will call you to arrange a time to meet with you and your child and take a tour of the EARTH Program campus. If the class teacher wishes to proceed you, your child will be invited to visit the program for a number of consecutive days. Discussions with you will also continue during this time to determine fit.

NOTE- Enrollment considerations are based upon:

  • Our school’s suitability for the child’s age, ability, and individual educational needs.
  • Whether the applicant is compatible with the efficient education of children already placed in the school. We aim to maintain a healthy constellation of pupils in each class.
  • Whether we have the resources to meet the student’s needs. Children who are not doing well in other schools often flourish at Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School, but there are learning and behavioral challenges that are sometimes beyond our scope. In some cases, children may be accepted on a trial basis. Additionally, a child joining after Grade 1 may need individual tutoring support in specific subjects, such as foreign language learning or music, to participate comfortably with their class. Individual tutoring is the responsibility of the parents.
4. Get Started

After your child’s interview or visit, we will send a letter notifying you of your application status. If your child is accepted, you will be asked to complete enrollment forms, including:

  • A Tuition Agreement/Contract
  • School Health Forms and Immunization Records/Waiver
  • Student Permission Forms

After your child is accepted you can move forward with applying for tuition assistance.  It is encouraged that you complete the TADs process as early as possible in the above process.
