Join Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School (HVS) and Jan Goeschel for “Education for the 21st Century: Creating Resonant Spaces for Embodied Learning.” Jan will address how we can create an education that addresses the needs of today, what kind of inner development is needed so that we can be effective in social and cultural transformation, and more.
Global Works: Seniors in Spain
The senior class returned from their Global Works trip to the Andalusia region of Spain. For several days everyone lived with and volunteered in the community Fundación Escuela de Solidaridad outside of Granada, learning about their Camphill-like social therapy approach and enjoying their warmth and appreciation.
School Festivals and Celebrations
Throughout the year, Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School creates festivals so that our students might become encouraged to wake up, to join together, and to celebrate our shared journey with nature. By strengthening our relationship with the Earth we will better find each other.
Aligning Curriculum with Earth’s Rhythms
Students found some lovely wildflowers at Fire Pond and admired them from afar; the children spotted a big bullfrog and a tiny little baby painted turtle. The joy in their voices as they stood and admired the natural wonder through their class curriculum—this is what fills our hearts as teachers!

Themes of Spring and Rebirth within “The Enchanted”
The HVS Grade 10 Class performed “The Enchanted,” a comedy by Jean Giraudoux, adapted from the French by Maurice Valency. This full-length production required a great deal of work in a short period of time, and the students rose to the challenge admirably.
