Inner Connections, World Transformation, and Net Positivity
What is our relationship with the earth, climate chaos, the extinction of species, the acidification of the ocean, or the suffering of humanity? How do our microcosmic actions influence macrocosmic realities? The answers to these questions relate to the state of our planet, and also our inner state of health. The Net Positive work at Hawthorne Valley is dedicated to societal transformations, the individual, and community.

For several days everyone lived with and volunteered in the community Fundación Escuela de Solidaridad outside of Granada, learning about their Camphill-like social therapy approach and enjoying their warmth and appreciation.
School Festivals and Celebrations
Throughout the year, Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School creates festivals so that our students might become encouraged to wake up, to join together, and to celebrate our shared journey with nature. By strengthening our relationship with the Earth we will better find each other.
Aligning Curriculum with Earth’s Rhythms
Students found some lovely wildflowers at Fire Pond and admired them from afar; the children spotted a big bullfrog and a tiny little baby painted turtle. The joy in their voices as they stood and admired the natural wonder through their class curriculum—this is what fills our hearts as teachers!
Spring, The Gift of Renewal
Spring invites us to open our eyes to the gift of renewal. Rachel Carson said that, “One way to open your eyes is to ask yourself, “What if I had never seen this before? What if I knew I would never see it again?”
