Allison Hoppe
Grade 1 Class Teacher
Allison currently assists in the sixth and first grades. She attended Hawthorne Valley from kindergarten through twelfth grade, except for homeschooling for ninth grade. She is currently a second-year student at the Alkion Center, seeking her Waldorf teacher Grades certification. Allison has a B.A. in Political Science from SUNY Geneseo and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. Prior to joining the faculty at Hawthorne Valley, she was an attorney for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of General Counsel in Washington, D.C., doing work on issues of environmental review, law applying to federally recognized tribes in the United States, and environmental justice. Allison’s interests include climate change, LGBTQIA+ and gender-related issues, crafting and sewing, board games, science fiction and fantasy, and her cats. She is grateful to have returned to the school community that gave her so much in her childhood.
