Ivi Venho
Ivilisse Venho teaches eurythmy to kindergarten through grade 3. Born in the Philippines, Ivi moved to the United States when she was seven years old. Having started piano and ballet at a young age, and then the violin a few years later, movement and music have been a constant presence in her life, one taking prominence over the other, until eurythmy brought them together in a meaningful way as an adult. Ivi first met eurythmy in her youth as a student at the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City and rediscovered it while teaching humanities and music at the Santa Fe Waldorf High School in New Mexico. Prior to moving to the Harlemville area, Ivi was a faculty member of the School of Eurythmy and a member of the Eurythmy Spring Valley Ensemble, performing and touring domestically and in Europe. Ivi has taught eurythmy and violin to all ages and at various Waldorf schools. In addition to teaching at Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School, she continues to teach private violin and eurythmy classes to adults and homeschool children.
Ivi holds a BA in International Relations and Public Policy from Princeton University and an MA in Dance Creative Practice from Laban Conservatoire in London, England. She received her Foundation Studies from Emerson College, England, trained as a Waldorf High School teacher at the Center for Anthroposophy, and spent a year at the Camphill Eurythmy School in North Yorkshire, England.
