Gingerbread Contest 2020
Welcome to the 2020 Virtual Gingerbread Contest!
For the 36th year in a row, Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School held it’s annual gingerbread contest! This year, however, the winter wonderland has moved online.
With creativity, ingenuity, and a whole lot of dedication, students and families at the school have presented 30 inspirational gingerbread submissions this year. Most of the entries were viewed and judged online, and some gingerbread creations were displayed on Warren Street in Hudson storefronts of local favorite spots like Supernatural Coffee, Oak Pizzaria, and Mercury Playhouse.
The gingerbread creations ranged from a sweet “Chickadee Home” by Anya Madey (grade 2) who took first prize for Best Traditional Gingerbread House to the lovely and colorful “Dibben Family Teepees,” to the much different “Night Bus” from Harry Potter fame. Each and every submission was unique, well-executed, and worthy of praise! Please see below for a complete list of winners and a photo gallery of all the entries.
We extend our gratitude to each person that contributed time and energy into making another successful gingerbread year, despite circumstances that might have made it impossible! Your dedication is proof that our gingerbread contest and display are an important and beloved part of our festival life of the school.
As always, we are grateful to the gingerbread bakers and builders. We are especially grateful to the judges, and all the volunteers that truly make this a beloved tradition and contest.
