Early childhood through grade 12

Hawthorne Valley Association

Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School is thrilled to welcome Katherine Collins as the speaker for the Class of 2025’s commencement on Saturday, June 14 at 2pm.

Collins is the first Head of Sustainable Investing at Putnam Investments and founder of Honeybee Capital. After many years as a professional investor, Katherine set out to re-integrate her investment philosophy with the broader world: traveling as a pilgrim and volunteer; earning a degree at Harvard Divinity School; and studying biomimicry and the natural world as guides for investing in an integrated, regenerative way, beneficial to our communities and our planet.

Katherine is author of two books, and was named to the inaugural Forbes “50 Over 50” list of leaders who are shaping the future of finance. She has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Santa Fe Institute, Omega Institute, Harvard Divinity School Dean's Council, Last Mile Health, and Wellesley Centers for Women.

“I am excited and grateful that Katherine is able to be this year’s commencement speaker,” said Martin Ping, Hawthorne Valley Executive Director. “Katherine visited the Twelfth Grade during their economics block and shared how she paused her professional career as an investor to earn a degree from Harvard Divinity School and study biomimicry with Janene Benyus. The seniors were impressed by Katherine’s ability and commitment to integrate these elements of her biography in developing a more holistic and life-affirming approach to investing.”

The Graduation Ceremony will be held under the School Pavilion at 330 CR 21C, Ghent, at 2pm on Saturday, June 14. The public is welcome.
