Rachel Loshak, first grade teacher for 2019-20 school year

Rachel Loshak

We are thrilled to welcome Rachel Loshak as our first grade class teacher for next year (2019-20). Rachel has lived in the U.S. since 1995 after being raised on an apple farm in the U.K. She has held a life-long love of nature and music, studying violin, piano, and voice. She holds a BA Honors degree in Creative Arts from Nottingham University, a certificate in Music Therapy from The New School in NYC, and a Waldorf Teaching Certificate from The Alkion Center.

Rachel’s previous work experience includes creative arts/music therapy, art photo retouching, administration, and performing arts management. Rachel has toured nationally and internationally, and has composed and recorded six albums as a singer/songwriter/bassist.

Prior to joining the Mountain Laurel Waldorf School as the first grade teacher in 2016, Rachel began her teaching career leading children’s choirs and singing groups for ages 3-14 years. Rachel and her family regularly visit Hawthorne Valley and they are looking forward to joining the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School community next year.

A ‘Meet The New Grade One Teacher’ event will take place during our Full School Open House on Saturday, March 9th, starting at 9:30am. Further details about this event and other opportunities for interested parents to meet Rachel will be advertised via our weekly newsletter. Also, please contact John Darby, our Admissions Director, with any inquiries regarding applications for next year’s first grade class.
