What an incredible journey we went on together! Thank you to all the parents and community members for your support at the games, at practice, at home, driving them to and from practice, and everything in between. But mostly, thank you for helping me build a community of support for the players—it made a huge difference! A special shout out to our Coaches and Chaperones at camp this summer where it all began - Mark, Alex, Martina, Betsy, Emily, and Kayla. The impact of just 3 days was huge.
And what an incredible successful season we had! Every player and parent should be so proud! You will see through the stats that this was a true team effort that resulted in a huge improvement compared to last year. Mark my words, if we keep this progress up, these players are going to go far. What a gift it was to watch it and be a part of it. Thank you for the opportunity.
The team won 7 of our 12 games, and converted 25% of shots on goals into goals. Goals were scored by 9 out of 15 of our players, and all but one player made shots on goal this season.
All players that played last year increased their shots on goal, most significantly all of our fullbacks—including Olive—saved several shots on goal, stepping in for the goalie when they were defending the goal in their positions to save a goal. Chloë led scoring with an incredible 24 goals and converted 37% of her shots on goal, just 8 percentage points lower than the average in the professional soccer league. Ellie, her first year playing, converted a strong 29% of her shots on goal with a total of an amazing 15 goals. With her first year in goal, Amber had 45 saves. Sonia increased her shots on goal by 96% with 25 shots on goal and Goals by 75%. Lotta increased her shots on goal by 67% and converted 2 of them into goals. ~ Coach Mary
