The HVS boys’ varsity basketball team got their first win of the season visiting Heatly last night with a strong victory, 72-43. HVS started the game strong and never looked back. We moved the ball well and the scoring was balanced, overall it was a great game offensively. Owen Wendell-Braly led the wildcats with 22 points and 4 assists, newcomer post player Aryell Beaulieu-Shaffer added 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Gabe Lopez added 9 points and the Davis brothers contributed on both ends of the court. Chris Davis lead the offense with 9 points and 4 steals while Jonas, our senior captain, dropped in 8 pts.and dished out 6 assists. Phillip Ruiz, Chris Hertle and Sky Han contributed with two points each and strong rebounds.  I told the team at halftime I wanted everyone to score and we almost pulled it off, HVS had 9 players in the scoring column, a coaches dream. It was a great win for the team and a nice confidence builder heading into Bishop Maginn next week.

Last year, the HVS Wildcats defeated the Bishop Maginn Griffins who were previously undefeated. It was an intense game, and we expect it to be just as intense this year. If you can make it to the game, please do! They travel to Bishop Maginn on Wednesday, December 20th for a 6:30PM game @ Albany Pharmacy. We hope to see you there!
